Our 500 acre
farm has been farmed by the Harris family for over 150 years and
has seen many changes in that time. It has evolved from a very
mixed traditional farm with vegetables, fruit, livestock and hops
to now specialising in cereals, potatoes and vegetable production
for our own shop. |
 |
|
The beauty
of growing our own produce is that it's fresh, it's seasonal and it
gives great satisfaction to be able to grow, harvest and sell our
own produce to our customers. |

In addition
to our farming activities, we are committed to environmental
issues here at Manor Farm. In 2001 we joined the Countryside
Stewardship Scheme which encourages farmers to create and
preserve natural habitats. We have laid hedges, planted new
ones, created 50 acres of grass leys and numerous grass
margins. |

Bring your
class for a day in the countryside
Farm visits are
a wonderful opportunity to bring your pupils into the countryside
and experience life on a working farm. The farm gives a wide base
to teach from across the curriculum and key stages.
Our facilities
include a classroom, disabled toilet, full hand washing
facilities, picnic area behind duck pond and ample parking. We can
provide a tractor trailer ride at a charge per child. We are CEVAS
(Countryside Educational Visits Accreditation Scheme) trained and
can arrange visits to your requirements. Our farm provides the
background to discussions on the following subjects.
